ECoW Projects

Following the completion of Protected Species Surveys for bats, we will take on an ECoW role during the subsequent works to ensure that construction, repair or demolition projects are carried out according to the conditions stated within the licence issued by SNH. In addition, a bat licensed ecologist needs to be on site in case any live bats are located as these animals will need to be removed to safety, usually to a pre-installed bat box on site. For this, we remain on site during works in any areas of a site or building where bats could be affected by works. This role can sometimes involve checking features immediately prior to works such as tree felling on the route of new powerlines, on hydro schemes or new road schemes. For this, our bat licensed ECoW will be on hand to complete an ‘at height’ surveys using rope access.
