Sustainable Christmas Crafting Event 2024

By Evelyn Schreiner the 21/12/2024

Hello all!

We hope you all enjoyed our recent sustainable Christmas crafting event on Sunday the 1st of December. It was a fabulous afternoon full of inter-generational fun and imagination! Once again, we partnered with Remake Scotland this year to provide us with some secondhand materials to reuse and upcycle into our Christmas crafting projects. We loved watching everyone flex their creative talents for the holidays!

This year we focused on several specific crafts for those who wanted more guidance about what to make with the many materials we had at hand. We spent several evenings during the month planning and practicing these crafts, so thank you to our directors and volunteers for lending their imagination on those nights! Our chosen crafts included everything from paper cards, origami trees, pinecone animals and gonks, woolly gonks with woolly hats, stars made of straws or lollipop sticks, tea light holders, cardboard wreaths, natural and foraged wreaths, popcorn garlands, and much more!

We were impressed by the wide variety of imaginative creations by the end of the day, and with the patience and enthusiasm of everyone who attended. Everyone from children to adults were such great learners and thought outside the box with their creations!

A special thank you goes to Hilary, Ruth, Evelyn, Lisa, Jo, Terry, Marie-Claire and her daughters, Joy, Audrey, Grace, and everyone else who helped us organise the event, provided materials, baked yummy treats, taught a specific craft, or who helped us clean up afterwards. You were all fabulous!

Hope to see you all again next year, and have a wonderful Christmas!
